600 Visitor Visa allows the applicant to travel to Australia for tourism, business or to visit friends and relatives for a period of between three months and three years, depending on the purpose of the visit and the individual’s circumstances. If extended within Australia, the total duration may not normally exceed 6 months.
This visa does not allow the holder to work in Australia, but may be used for study for a period not exceeding 3 months.
Tourist stream (apply outside Australia): This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to go on a cruise or to visit family and friends.
Tourist stream (apply in Australia) : This visa stream lets you visit Australia as a tourist, to visit family and friends or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.
Business visitor stream: This visa stream lets you visit Australia for business reasons.
Sponsored family stream: This visa stream lets people who are sponsored, usually by a family member, come to Australia to see their family members.
Validity

Health insurance
Medical treatment is usually very expensive in Australia. As a tourist, you are not entitled to free healthcare in Australia. Some visa categories require you to take out health insurance for yourself and your family.
Medical Examinations
Most applicants are not required to have a medical examination. If you are 70 years of age or older, you must undergo a medical examination as required by the Australian Immigration Department.
Entitlement to this type of visa
This visa does not allow you to work in Australia, but you can study for up to 3 months.
Financial requirements
You must have sufficient funds to cover all expenses during your stay in Australia, including living expenses, travelling expenses, or health insurance.
Notes from GEIC:
You cannot work in Australia on a 600 Australian Tourist Visitor Visa;
The 600 Visitor Visa allows you to enter and leave Australia on one or more occasions for stays of up to three, six or twelve months each, so please check your approval letter carefully;
Applicants may specify the number of entries and exits they wish to make and the duration of their stay in their application, but visas will be granted by visa officers on the basis of the applicant’s individual circumstances;
In general, a three-month visitor visa is sufficient for the vast majority of visitors to Australia. If a visa is to be issued for a longer period of stay, specific conditions will need to be met;
600 Visitor Visa is a visa category designed to cater for applicants visiting Australia for a short period of time. Therefore, this visa cannot normally be used for stays of more than 12 months in Australia, nor can it be used for the purpose of permanent residence in Australia;
If the applicant plans to apply for a new passport, they should apply for a new passport before applying for a visa. The applicant’s visa details will be linked to the passport number provided in their visa application. Applicants should use the same passport to travel to Australia;
If applying for this category of visa within Australia, the applicant should be in Australia at the time of visa approval. If applying for this type of visa outside of Australia, the applicant should be outside of Australia at the time the visa is granted.
From 5 March 2022, applications for the 600 Visitor Visa must be submitted online via ImmiAccount, both onshore and offshore. The Department of Home Affaires will no longer accept paper applications. Benefits of online submission:

Online Application Method
Firstly, applicants need to register for a personal ImmiAccount account on the Immigration Department website to submit their application online. Once the account has been completed and you have entered the page, select the visa category you wish to apply for. According to the prompts, step by step to complete the personal information and upload documents, pay the fee.If you have all the necessary documents, it takes up to one hour to complete the process. However, it is important to note that the entire application process is in English.
